OPENINGS
Dear Friends of Literacy,
Literacy Action Center and English Skills Learning Center* (ESL Center) proudly announce a
joint workplace literacy project, partially funded through Salt Lake County Social Service Block
Grant and matching funds from the community.
The purpose of our Adult Literacy Workplace Program is to reach out to employable adults
residing in Salt Lake County, both native English and nonnative speakers, who lack the necessary
language and literacy skills for the workplace. The focus will be on developing oral, reading, and
writing skills appropriate to the workplace through work-related materials and tasks. We will be
delivering courses across Salt Lake County then following-up with more personal, ongoing small
group or individualized tutoring.
We are seeking to fill several positions:
Workplace Literacy
Teacher (3 positions), and
Volunteer Literacy team
members (6 positions) in the
Adult Literacy Workplace Program (6+ positions).

All qualified candidates
must share our philosophy that all adults can learn; that instruction must be relevant and useful;
that each adult learner is unique; and that adult learners are equal partners in the learning process.
